The 2019 edition of the European Forum on Urban Forestry will take place on 22-24 May in Cologne, Germany.
Since 20 years, the European Forum on Urban Forestry (EFUF) is a unique meeting place for forest and greenspace managers, planners, architects, researchers, public authorities and policy makers to share interdisciplinary experience and good practices within the field of urban greening, urban forests and urban forestry.

Urban forests are vibrant places for multifaceted recreational activities, social gathering and mental restoration, but also provide biomass for an urban bioeconomy. Cologne has a remarkably long history of urban forestry, which includes the Cologne “Waldlabor”, established in 2010, it is a Forest Laboratory where new types of urban forests are experimented in order to face climate change and changing society. The EFUF will capitalize on the Waldlabor and will organize an International Waldlabor Student Workshop in parallel to the conference.
The European Forum on Urban Forestry is currently looking for contributions for the conference, and therefore invites researchers and urban forest professionals to submit their abstracts. Contributions may include – but are not limited to - applied as well as academic research, and perspectives/experience reports of professionals and practitioners. EFUF emphasizes the connection of practice and scientific knowledge, encouraging a variety of possible formats to contribute to the conference. Contributions may explore the urban forest as:
  • the healthy forest : sport, wellbeing and human health,
  • the spiritual forest : culture, religion and art,
  • the learning forest : research, laboratories and education,
  • the co-designed forest : diverging interests, governance and urban forest management

Abstracts (maximum 2000 characters) are only accepted in English language. Deadline for submission is 1st of February 2019.
