Project coordinator migration and integration

EUROCITIES, the network of major European cities, is recruiting a project coordinator in the field of migration and integration. The successful candidate for this position will work under the supervision of the projects & knowledge sharing director at the EUROCITIES Brussels office. He/she would ideally start in February 2019. The VALUES (Volunteering Activities to Leverage Urban and European Social integration of migrants) project will help cities to share and improve policies on integration of migrants and refugees with civil society and volunteers. It will also build the capacity of city staff and volunteer groups through contacts and exchanges with similar actors across Europe. The project is funded by the AMIF programme. VALUES has a budget of 1 million EUR and is a two year project (from Jan 2019). EUROCITIES is an equal opportunity employer. Responsibilities

The project coordinator will coordinate a European project supporting city-to-city knowledge sharing activities on migration and integration policy and practice. The project builds on the EUROCITIES Integrating Cities Charter as well as previous projects (see www.integratingcities.eu) and will be led by EUROCITIES in cooperation with member cities and expert partners.

The main tasks include:

- Coordinating the VALUES project

  • overall project management as well as work and budget planning
  • organising and leading project meetings
  • liaising with the European Commission and project partners
  • leading on and delivering project activities such as research, city-to-city exchange visits, publication management, event organisation, dissemination
  • drafting technical and financial reports
  • travel as required for the purposes of the project

- Supporting the EUROCITIES working group migration and integration on the Integrating Cities and linking it to relevant project work (under the supervision of the policy advisor for migration & integration):

  • development of tools to support implementation of and reporting on the Integrating Cities Charter
  • organisation of Integrating Cities conferences in cooperation with host cities and European Commission
- Supervising other projects in the field of migration and integration in which EUROCITIES is involved 

- Supporting project development in the area of migration and integration in cooperation with the projects & knowledge sharing director and the policy advisor for migration & integration

Profile

Skills

  • Ability to speak English fluently and to write clear and concise reports in English; other languages an asset
  • Experience of working with local and city governments or public sector partners
  • Excellent relationship management, coordination, and communications skills
  • Good networking abilities and interpersonal skills for an international environment

Knowledge

  • Overall work experience of minimum 5 years, including 3 years in the field of EU-funded project management, including financial management
  • In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of migration and integration policies at EU level
  • Experience in publications and/or event management
  • Experience in running peer-reviews or study visits and capacity building events
  • Experience in working with multiple stakeholders at transnational level
  • Experience of policy work an asset
