Our autumn meeting of the working group Roma inclusion will take place on 24-25 September in Leeds. It will bring together cities from different corners of Europe to learn and inspire one another on how to address inequalities and foster the inclusion of Roma people, Europe's biggest ethnic minority. The meeting will include a study visit and an exhibition of projects and services that support Roma inclusion in Leeds.

EU Parliament acts to support migrant children

On 2 May 2018, the European Parliament adopted a new resolution to protect migrant children arriving in the EU. The resolution calls for all member states to safeguard the rights and interests of children taking into consideration the unique challenges faced by child refugees and asylum seekers, such as vulnerability to exploitation, violence and sexual abuse.

Effects of EU's ageing population on long-term care

Europe will have the second highest globally old-age dependency ratio among large economies, with a share population that is forecasted to shrink from 6.9% in 2015 to 4.5% in 2070. Population structure is putting continuous pressure on finances in the long-run, ageing and connecting challenges representing the main drivers of increasing long-term care (LTC) expenditure. Improving the efficiency of LTC systems is necessary in order to address the increasing need for care.
